The Center for Connected Health Policy (CCHP) has released its bi-annual summary of state telehealth policy changes for Spring 2022. Additionally, we are also making available a state summary chart showing where states stand on many key telehealth policies, as well as an infographic highlighting our key findings.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra has extended the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) for another 90 days beyond April 16. The PHE will now expire on July 15. An HHS spokesperson also reiterated the agency’s commitment to giving at least 60 days notice before termination of the PHE.

Hitachi, U of U Health, and Regenstrief researchers partnered to develop and test a new AI method that analyzed electronic health record data across Utah and Indiana and learned generalizable treatment patterns of type 2 diabetes patients with similar characteristics. Those patterns can now be used to help determine an optimal drug regimen for a specific patient.

Lawmakers recently extended telehealth changes until five months after the end of the public health emergency is declared. This extension in the omnibus spending package eases telehealth advocates’ concerns about a “telehealth cliff,” or the abrupt cut off of coverage of most virtual care.
