Get to Know the Division of Grants Management Operations (DGMO)

This session highlights the Division of Grants Management Operations (DGMO) and its involvement in all aspects of the HRSA grants lifecycle. We will provide an overview, from announcement to closeout, to include:

• organizational structure;
• demonstration of roles and responsibilities;
• how DGMO interacts with applicants and recipients business; and
• fiscal and program areas.

We will use illustrative examples, and audience questions and resources will be incorporated.

Grant Budgeting

This session highlights the many factors to consider when developing and managing a grant budget. It will explore:

• cost principles;
• NOFO requirements;
• allowable and unallowable costs;
• limitations; and
• the importance of budget justifications.

We will use examples to illustrate common budgeting mishaps and resulting consequences.

During the past decade, the idea that health issues need to be brought into the political arena to advance population health has become part of mainstream public health.   The political determinants of health are key to understanding the myriad factors that contribute to inequities faced by underserved and marginalized communities.  How do policies and politics influence the social conditions that generate health outcomes?

Discussion will focus on recognizing and celebrating the unique strengths of Alaska’s rural communities, HRSA resources available to rural communities to expand health care services through telehealth, and promising practices and challenges faced in Alaska to improve telehealth services in rural settings.

This session will enhance the understanding of the HHS Discretionary Suspension and Debarment (S&D). During the session, you will be presented the foundational S&D concepts.

Expanding Expanded Authority

Understanding and Submitting Prior Approvals

This session will share what you need to know once you receive the Notice of Award (NoA). The focus of this session is common types of prior approval requests and when they are required.

Nuts and Bolts of Construction Grants and Notice of Federal Interest

This session will cover detailed information on grant funding provided for HRSA’s Construction grant program, including:

• assistance to populations affected by natural disasters for repair and reconstruction activities;
• property management requirements; and
• reporting and equipment reporting and disposition.

In addition to a discussion on acknowledgement and documentation of the Notice of Federal Interest (NFI), we will address a variety of common issues specific to construction grants.

Federal Financial Reporting for HRSA Grants

This session will discuss all aspects of the Federal Financial Report (FFR) for HRSA grants, including the transition of financial reporting to the Payment Management System that occurred in October 2020. We will discuss the importance of submitting timely and accurate reports, as well as highlight common challenges encountered with financial reporting and the steps to address.
