- CARES Funding Round 2: Applying and Winning: Apr 7 @ 1:00 pm
Description: The FCC has issued an R&O on the second round of COVID-19 telemedicine program and this is the beginning of the new funding cycle. After reviewing comments and recommendations from stakeholders, the FCC has made changes to the application process and the evaluation matrix. Some of the expected changes include:
- One grant will be made in each state.
- The application window will have a tighter schedule for submissions.
- The evaluation matrix gives preference to hardest hit areas, low-income areas, Round 1 unfunded applicants and more.
This is a unique opportunity to apply for much-needed funding for Telehealth expansion.

Student Health have partnered to create a school-based
health miniseries to provide a foundation in understanding
how telehealth can be used to build school-based health
programs.
This session will kick off the miniseries by providing a history
of the Kid Clinic, a school-based clinic, and the relationships
between the pediatric nurse practitioners and counselors and
their work with the school district.
- Tele-Visit Tutorial for Patients, Families and Caregivers: Apr 15 @ 2:00 pm
Description: Come bravely with us as we invite patients, families and caregivers to this ECHO session. During this session, we will provide strategies and tips to ensure a successful and satisfying tele-visit, including inclusivity, preparation, privacy concerns, time of visit tips, technology, and follow-up. We will also share our patient resource “20 Things to Know about Telehealth”. Please invite your patients, families and caregivers who are interested or likely to receive remote health care services. We look forward to learning patients’ responses to being invited to an ECHO session! Providers of remote services are encouraged to attend to provide additional context, detail and best practices that are helpful to patients, families and caregivers. In addition, staff from nursing and assisted living facilities, and home health settings are strongly encouraged to attend.
Session Objectives
• Know your options and rights for including others in a tele-visit
• List appropriate uses of a tele-visit and situations when it is best to request an in-person visit
• Walk through a preparation check list to get the most from your tele-visit
• Consider best practices to ensure you (patient, family or caregiver) get what you need during the visit
• Appreciate how best to follow-up after the visit and to maintain a connection between visits

Description: This webinar will provide an overview of the Round 2 Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) COVID-19 Telehealth Program’s application process, guest presentations by health centers that received round 1 funding, and insight from telehealth experts.
Established on April 2, 2020, the FCC COVID-19 Telehealth Program administered $200 million in funding appropriated by Congress as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The program was enacted to support efforts of health care providers to address COVID-19 by providing telecommunications services, information services, and devices necessary to enable the provision of telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 100 health centers received telehealth funding to support initiatives like network upgrades, purchasing videoconference equipment for patients and practitioners, and smartphones for telehealth visits. To build on the success of the first round of funding, Congress appropriated an additional $249.95 million to support Round 2 of the COVID-19 Telehealth Program. The Round 2 application opens April 29, 2021 12pm - May 6, 2021 12pm ET.
